CVD Endophenotype Lead Investigator: Richard Mayeux Institution : Columbia University E-Mail : rpm2@cumc.columbia.edu Proposal ID : 1188 Proposal Description: The goals of this project are to use a common variant and gene-based approaches from data in publicly available datasets from patients with late onset Alzheimer?s disease (LOAD), such as NACC, that include vascular risk factors and brain MRI and GWAS to identify the genetic variants or other coding variants in Alzheimer?s disease and that are also associated with quantitative measures of regional brain volume, cortical thickness and volume of white hyperintensities. The hypothesis is: Genes associated with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk factors and LOAD will contain multiple damaging variants underlying the roles of neurodegeneration and cerebrovascular pathology in LOAD.
